You don't have to go broke to clear up acne, 2008-06-18
I went to the dermatologist and he prescribed a regiment of several things that included this product. My face was dry and on fire. He had me washing with this in the morning and then with a prescription in the evenings. I cut everything out but this item and guess what...I didn't need the other stuff. But, in order to keep the bacteria off your face...you have to use it at least once daily. I won't use it more than twice a day. It can dry out the skin. My dermatologist recommended a very inexpensive, light on the skin moisturizer. Cetaphil. I like it. It doesn't have that heavy, perfumey feel that other moisturizers have. That's all I use now. The Neutrogena Acne-Wash and the Cetaphil moisturizer. Of course not every body's skin is the same.

Acne no more, 2008-04-30
I use this for shaving and also to wash up at night. This pretty much strips all the oils from my face and definitely helps with pimples from shaving. I use this 2-3 times a day and a face moisturizer as well. Great stuff. Generics are available at the brick and mortar stores.

Very nice job!, 2007-11-22
I purchased this product to see if it could help with body acne. I've been very impressed. It has almost completely gotten rid of my problem. I think the way it works is it cleans off the bacteria that accumulates when you have acne already, giving your skin a chance to be healthy. I didn't have the severe acne that some people are plagued with, but I had enough that it was leaving scars and continually popped up. The fact that it contains 3 bottles makes it even more cost-effective and long lasting. After using this product, I will definitely keep using it to maintain healthy skin.

I've been using this for many years, 2007-07-01
I've tried numerous soaps, creams, masks, pads and other items in my quest to handle acne. I really, really like the Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash, In fact I currently keep 2 bottles of the soap in my bathroom. One is in my shower, to use when I'm taking a shower. The other is on my sink counter, to use for the parts of the day that I am not taking a shower.
The good thing about the Neutrogena is it's very gentle. It makes a gentle lather, it cuts through the grease to make sure any grease and dried-up oil are removed from my face gently. It helps to make sure that there's nothing on my skin to clog up the pores, without hurting or irritating the skin.
If I use this twice a day - every morning and evening - and follow other standard acne prevention tips (changing my pillowcase daily, being gentle when washing, etc), I honestly can keep my acne completely at bay. If I run out of the Neutrogena, the red spots start to come back.

No Cure All, But no Snake Oil Either, 2007-06-28
Acne and other skin conditions may be cause by a number of internal and external factors, and anyone wanted a more thorough understanding of dermatological facts may want to seach PubMed.com or Webmd.com. This is a fairly mild soap with the drying agent salicylic acid, an astringest that is found in many other face and hair products. If you have serious acne problems, I would suggest (well, I am suggesting, but since I'm not a doctor, I do so very tentatively) that you go to a doctor and look for treatment indicated for your condition and your genes(e.g., antibiotics, changes in lifestyle, etc.).
So, unfortunately, perhaps one needs to lower his or her expectations a little. If you;re looking for an effective, "oil-free" soap with some drying action, and with no negatives (bad scent, pore-clogging, overly or underly sudsing) then you might give this a try. Neutrogena also makes a 3% salicyclic soap. It's packaged well, the pump works without a hitch, and it cleans your face without leaving a sticky feeling. Thre are lots of products out there, perhaps your doctor or your experience will guide you towards the one that is effective and pleasant enough to use.
